Generalizations?

Once a month, I begin to have this incredible urge to rant about purely arbitrary snippets of life. Just once every month. I usually just bottle it inside and provide an outlet for it via some crude and lame humor, but this time I remembered that on top of maintaining this blog only for the technical issues, it’s also a place where I used to go and rant. So once again, I’m back.

Now society should be just that, a group or organization of people. But in truth we see society not as a mere collection or set, but as a physical object where we can interface with each other. (Bring on the nerdy words) On top of that however, we see a hierarchy of categorization, each embodying a specific group of people or other categories. So far, in my experience, the most interesting inter-categorical interaction is based on the differences of opinions between men and women.

Let’s admit it guys, we’re simple creatures. It’s Friday night and we’re pretty sure that we’re about to collapse from the exhaustion of the day. Your boss is the type who loves to ‘delegate’ work to the point of minimum efficiency. After kissing their butts all day long, the last thing that you would want to do is to delve into yet another episode of the unknown that is the female mind.

For the ladies out there, coming from a guy, it’s tough figuring out everything that you want from us. We’re Men, we like fire and loud noises. The subtleties of life isn’t our strong points. 99% of the hints and signals that you throw at us are lost in oblivion. It’s not that we don’t try, it’s just that after a day of hard work, we’re just not able to fully deal with the onslaught of expectation and the whole package that you expect from us.

So what happens? Women have a very interesting outlet for their grievances. They’re social creatures, whenever one of their kind becomes down or agitated, they all gather up into a tight group and vent their frustrations out. Often times, during the midst of such a vis-a-vis, one could always hear the frustrated sigh, followed by a comment that starts with “Men are…” and usually contains an postcedent adjective that roughly means ‘insensitive’, ‘shallow’, or in some of the more agitated gossips, ‘pigs’.

As a man, I apologize for all of us. We just can’t help it. It’s a natural impulse that runs in the family all the way back to Adam. We’re just not good at detecting the subtle hints that you leave us. And it’s not our fault that we’re so obvious.

But it really bothers me that women would make such generalizations. Are men as a collective group just doomed to be at the receiving ends of such callous generalizations from the start? Is it really fair to punish us for being straight-forward? This is totally not fair.

And therefore, here’s a proposition for all of the fellas out there. The next time that you hear a women generalize about men, make a generalization of your own.

“Women, they always make generalizations.”

That’ll be a great episode in your relationship with her. :D
And I apologize for all of the future relationships that I might have just effectively ended.
